Episode Notes:
- Fear can show itself as uncertainty.
- It’s okay to be uncertain but honor you’re the work you are doing.
- It’s so important to understand your feelings and how fear is showing up in your life.
- There is a difference between needing to take a pause and reflect and and being stagnant, where there is no decision to be made at this moment.
- Life is filled with subtle shifts that can help you feel more powerful.
- The power to do all things, including those that are hard, is within you.
- Sometimes doing the hard thing is the right thing, and could make you feel better.
Helpful tips to get through the uncertainty:
- Make a list of things that you feel are taking up space and keeping you from moving forward.
- Take action even if it’s the smallest of actions to take that step forward out of the chaos.
- Be patient with yourself and give yourself grace.
- Don’t carry the negative thoughts that say “you can’t” with you.

Barb, I feel like you are speaking to me and I really needed to hear this today. It seems as though we have been living parallel lives these past few years. I’m 65 and in the midst of a very difficult divorce—what divorce isn’t? I retired from a 30 year teaching career in the midst of Covid. I’m caring for my 88 year old mom who is in very poor health and has dementia. My life has turned completely upside-down and I’m really struggling. This isn’t the life I envisioned for myself, particularly at my age. I have two baby granddaughters that I see at least three days a week. They give me such joy and solace, but I feel that sometimes I’m not as present as I would like to be and I hate that feeling. This particular podcast really resonated with me. I have been paralyzed by fear, but now I realize it is because of so much uncertainty in my life. I haven’t felt like myself this last year particularly because of the divorce. But I am ready to take back my power. I am ready to rise from the rubble of my life. I really like your helpful tips to get through the uncertainty. I’m going to give them a try. Thank you Michelle and Barb for your important work. It is so comforting to know that I am not alone in this journey. Thank you so very much, Katie
